Willy's Revenge II
A downloadable game
Welcome to Willy's Revenge II!
Q: Why is it called Willy's Revenge II? Where is number I?
A: In the year 1982, A home computer was released called the Dragon32. On that system was a game called Willy's Revenge by Abacus Software, a game that cloned "Centipede" (A precursor to "Snake").
My Dad claims to have worked on the game as a programmer (no information exists of this) and I thought the story was really neat, so I decided to make a sequel 37 years later!
This game is dedicated to my Dad... Now for the description of what the game is!
Q: What is Willy's Revenge II?
A: Willy's Revenge II (Shortened to WR2) is a snake-like game in which you collect pellets and avoid hitting the wall. The difference is that unlike the regular score attack format of snake, WR2 is a single player adventure in which the goal is to simply reach the end or collect all the pellets to unlock a gate which lets you progress.
Q: So, why should I play it?
A: WR2 is made by one person (predominantly) and offers an interesting take on the familiar snake game play. With 100 levels to play and experience there is plenty of content to sink your teeth into. With villainous enemies, treacherous traps and tight spaces to navigate, this game won't be a walk in the park!
Q: What systems is it for?
A: Right now it only works on Windows, I could probably figure out how to get it to work on other things but that's a problem for future me to worry about.
Q: This game looks like "Baby's first game project!"
A: In a lot of ways it is my first attempt at something but I do believe in the simplicity of the concept and it's prospects going forward, in terms of the visual elements, I have an artist friend of mine (Credited in the readme) who is graciously helping me out, everything past world 1 is pretty much placeholder though.
Q: Why have you put it on Itch.io?
A: This is a passion project of sorts for me but I would like to gauge interest and see if it would be something people would be interested in playing once completed.
Q: Where are all the assets, the logo/proper title screen, the music etc.
A: The way my brain works is to get the bulk of the game-play content finished first and then jazz it up afterwards, I don't know if that's the most efficient way of doing things but I like seeing the flesh come together before I pretty it up. Pretty much everything is a placeholder right now.
Q: Why is the game free, then?
A: I couldn't ask for money up front for something like this due to the small scope of the project (relatively) and the fact that it isn't nearly completed yet. I would respectfully ask that if you did want to support me, to comment how much you think the game would be worth upon completion to you... I'm not a business person so I'm likely to get the pricing wrong without guidance.
Thanks for reading this long description (I'm clearly not very good at this) and hope to read some feedback soon!
